Both sides started brightly on a pitch which thwarted both teams' attempts to play a passing game of football.
Victory showed their credentials within 3 minutes of the start when they hit the post. Wyrley then countered 3 minutes later when Carl Gough hit the bar with a well struck shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Wyrley went a goal up after 12 minutes through Carl Gough who was put free down the left by Jason Dennerley. However, Victory were back on level terms on 20 minutes when an unmarked Victory striker fired home from inside the penalty area.
Matthew Anstey and Jordan Clarke had chances to put Wyrley ahead, but it was Carl Gough who again put Wyrley in front with another goal out of the top drawer from the edge of the box on 25 minutes.
Victory drew themselves level just before half-time to leave the second half nicely poised.
Half-time: Victory 2 - Wyrley 2
As they did against Viper, Wyrley reverted to their 4-4-2 formation in an attempt to give themselves more penetration up-front in the second half, but without their top goal scorer and on a worsening pitch, they found it difficult to create scoring opportunities. .
Todd Wootton - who was making his first full start was pushed forward and managed to get behind the Victory defence on a few occasions, but Wyrley's penetration down the flanks was more restricted than it had been in the first period.
Victory went ahead shortly after the restart. Shortly afterwards, Simon Casserley in the Wyrley goal made a good last-ditch save denying Victory another goal from a one-on-one opportunity.
Victory went further ahead when Wyrley gave the ball away in the opposition penalty area, and Victory raced through to score on the counter-attack to make the score 4-2.
Jason Dennerley was put through on goal to give Wyrley the chance to pull a goal back but took one touch too many before being denied by the foot of the Victory keeper.
Edward Marrocco came as a replacement for Todd Wootton, and Shaun Nicholls replaced Adam Nicholls as Wyrley searched for the right formula to get themselves back into the game.
However, it was not to be Wyrley's day and Victory wrapped a deserved win with their fifth goal in the last ten minutes.
All in all, Wyrley did not play as badly as the result suggests. Had Wyrley taken their first-half chances and not succumbed to a couple of unchacteristic unforced errors in the second, the result could have been very different.
