Wyrley made the fatal mistake of underestimating the opposition when they went into this game expecting a win. In the event, a change to the usual formation & line-up served to unsettle Wyrley who encountered a Park Hill team who showed greater motivation.
The game was played at Park Hill's Spear & Jackson ground due to Wyrley's home venue being closed due to the foot and mouth epidemic.
Park Hill started the brighter of the two teams and went ahead after 3 minutes when an uncharacteristic slip by Alex Hartshorn gave Park Hill possession in front of goal.
Wyrley struggled to regain their composure but created chances themselves notably through Shaun Nicholls who shot just over from just outside the box. Both teams came close but Wyrley continued to look nervous at the back.
On the half-hour, Adam Chamberlain dribbled his way into the crowded Park Hill penalty area only to be unceremoniously up-ended by a Park Hill defender. The referee pointed to the spot and Shaun Nicholls converted with a shot high into the roof of the net.
The goal settled Wyrley's nerves and they continued to pressure the Park Hill as Luke Moseley came close. In the 33rd minute, Wyrley forced a corner and from the resulting clearance Jason Dennerley scored with the shot from the edge of the area through a crowd of players.

Park Hill came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and put Wyrley under some early pressure. Karl Deeley and Adam Nicholls were introduced replacing Luke Moseley and Shaun Nicholls.
15 minutes into the second half, Todd Wootton had a penalty harshly awarded against him when the ball bounced against his arm. The resulting goal lifted the Park Hill team and caused the Wyrley heads to drop.
In the 60th minute, Park Hill's perseverance finally paid off when they scored their winning goal from a corner to give them their first win of the season.
