Darlaston started as the more dominant of the two teams applying early pressure to the Wyrley defence. Wyrley soaked up the early attacks but always looked dangerous on the counter-attack with Carl Gough and Adam Chamberlain finding plenty of pace down each flank. Wyrley's reward came on 8 minutes when Jordan Clarke latched onto a through ball from Matthew Anstey and fired in from an acute angle. Two minutes later, Edward Marrocco scored the second lobbing the keeper with a cross-cum-shot. Adam Chamberlain added a third after good work by Luke Moseley and Greg Bloomer. Jordan Clarke added his second and Wyrley's fourth after 23 minutes when he was put through behind the Darlaston defence to slot home past the advancing Darlaston keeper.
Half-time: Wyrley 4 - Darlaston 0
Darlaston had looked threatening in attack throughout the first half. The Wyrley goalkeeper Mark Biddulph had been pressed into action on several occasions and Darlaston had come close to scoring with an attempt which hit the bar. The Wyrley full-backs Anthony Crump and Luke Moseley had successfully curbed the runs of the Darlaston wide-men throughout the first half.
The central Wyrley defenders of Matthew Worsey and Jason Dennerley - who had coped comfortably with Darlaston's pace and movement up-front in the first half - found Darlaston's more direct approach in more of a problem in the second half. Darlaston got their reward with their first goal from Leon Fulford within minutes of the restart.
Wyrley reorganised with Jason Dennerley moving into midfield, Luke Moseley moving into the centre of the defence, and Shaun Nicholls coming on at left-back. The team responded with two goals in the space of five minutes with Jordan Clarke getting his hat-trick, then Matthew Anstey waltzing through the Darlaston defence for a fine solo-effort.
By the hour mark, Wyrley were 8-1 ahead with goals from Greg Bloomer - assisted by Adam Chamberlain - and then Shaun Nicholls from the penalty spot after Jordan Clarke was up-ended in the area.
Matthew Anstey was then replaced by Shaun Nicholls in midfield with Adam Nicholls coming off the bench. Wyrley then added another after a goalmouth scramble when Jordan Clarke scored at the third attempt to make the score 9-1.
Darlaston then staged a revival scoring three goals through Leon Fulford inside ten minutes. Adam Chamberlain then shot wide from the penalty spot for Wyrley after his penatrating run had been curtailed by a foul in the penalty area. Adam made amends minutes later when he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box after some sustained Wyrley pressure during which the Darlaston keeper parted company with one of his boots.
Jordan Clarke added to his impressive display up-front by heading off the line from a Darlaston free-kick awarded after Mark Biddulph in the Wyrley goal had handled outside his area.
Darlaston pulled one more goal out of the hat before Wyrley responded with a goal out of the top drawer from Shaun Nicholls who hit the ball sweetly high into the Darlaston goal from the edge of the penalty area.
